Rhinophyma is a skin condition involving the glands of the nose. These glands, called sebaceous glands, can become swollen and hypertrophic causing an enlarged and bumpy appearance to the nose. This condition is benign and not dangerous. However, as it progresses, the nose can become unsightly. It is often mistakenly attributed to severe alcoholism, although the exact cause remains unknown.
At The Plastic Surgery Group, we are proud to offer a list of Injectables and Dermal fillers to our Cincinnati, Ohio patients. We are currently offering the following: Botox Many people wish they could reduce the appearance of unsightly frown lines, particularly between the brows. Yet, they are not ready for a full brow lift. For these patients, BOTOX® Cosmetic by Allergan can be a great alternative.
We are excited to announce the arrival of Juvéderm Voluma XC for our Ohio patients! Juvéderm Voluma is the most recent hyaluronic acid soft tissue filler to join the family of FDA approved Juvéderm products. Juvéderm Voluma is also the first and only filler approved to temporarily correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks and mid-face.
Restylane is a great option for patients with deep facial lines, such as nasolabial folds between the mouth and nose. An FDA-approved dermal filler, Restylane is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the human body. This non-animal-based filler is a smooth gel made from plants. It requires no allergy testing and breaks down without a trace in the body.
Split earlobes can occur for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, the condition happens suddenly when an earring becomes caught and causes a torn earlobe. At other times, the earlobe becomes split gradually as a pierced hole slowly enlarges to the point that earrings can no longer be held within it. While the condition is most common in women, it can certainly occur in men as well.
Some of us begin to age prematurely around the eyes. Much of this problem is inherited and cannot be fixed with lotions or creams. As your lower eyelids have begun to age, you may have noticed lines at the corners called “crow’s feet.” You might also have developed puffy lower eyelids and excess fat called eye bags.
Sometimes, the most visible sign of an aging face isn’t your face at all – it’s your neck. These changes are usually inherited. As you get older, you can accumulate excess fat in your neck that is independent of your body weight. This can give you the “double chin” look, or you may have developed what is called a “turkey neck” – loose skin in the neck which can sag and make you look older than your actual age. A necklift is the answer.
Most of your aging characteristics are inherited, and this includes our face. When your skin loses elasticity and tone, the structures of the face begin to sag, and wrinkles form. You may also have actually lost volume of tissue in your face, making you look hollow or gaunt. This can make you appear tired.
Many people wish they could reduce the appearance of unsightly frown lines, particularly between the brows. Yet, they are not ready for a full brow lift. For these patients, BOTOX® Cosmetic by Allergan can be a great alternative. BOTOX is a purified form of the protein, Botulinum Toxin, which has been used to treat muscle spasms for many years.
Chin implant surgery, also called chin contouring, can strengthen a weak chin and jaw line. It adds definition to the lower part of the face and can improve your profile. If you feel that your chin is weak and out of proportion with the rest of your face, a chin implant may be right for you.
People born with prominent ears face embarrassment and are frequently teased throughout their lives. They often try to hide their large or protruding ears with long hair. Fortunately, there is a reliable cure for women, men, and children. Dr. Steven Robinson is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Cincinnati, Ohio who has been operating on both adults and teenagers with prominent ears.
Nose contouring (also called rhinoplasty, nose surgery, nose reshaping, or a “nose job”) can give your nose and profile a more flattering appearance. It can also correct functional problems such as a deviated septum, breathing abnormalities, or a broken nose that failed to heal straight. Nose surgery has been one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures for men, women, and children.
Our eyes express emotion more than any other feature of the face. If your eyes look bright and alert, you’re perceived as energized, happy, youthful, and well-rested. If your eyes are puffy or have sagging skin drooping over your upper eyelids, people may comment that you look tired or not well.
By lifting the brows and smoothing out forehead lines and wrinkles, brow lift surgery (sometimes called a forehead lift) can often take years off your appearance. If sagging eyebrows, a deeply furrowed brow, or pinched lines above the nose are making you appear older or more tired than you feel, a brow lift may be a good surgical option for you.
Your face is your most visible feature. It expresses your emotions and conveys many unspoken messages. The visible signs of aging on the face can affect the way you feel and how others feel about you. As you age, your face often loses that youthful contour. The skin thins, loses collagen, and becomes less elastic.
